The year 2020 has been very bad for Bollywood. The film was released only two and a half months after its debut and much of it flopped badly. Then Corona virus wreaked havoc. Theaters were locked. Permission was granted to open after about seven-eight months, but most of the cinema is still closed. The new film is not just for running. The audience’s mind is also not scared. The OTT platform has emerged as a threat during lockdown. Among the films released in about two and a half months, the top 10 (according to the box office collection) movies are as follows:
Number 10: Panga
Box Office Collection: Rs 28.92 Crore
The film starring Kangana Ranaut was praised by critics, but the audience did not like the film. The film’s collections were very less.
Number 9: Ghost
Box Office Collection: 31.24 crores
Vicky Kaushal, Bhoomi Pednekar film ‘Bhoot’ contained suspense, thrill and fear, but the film did not leave an impact on the audience.
Number 8: Slap
Box Office Collection: Rs 32.00 Crore
The film starring Taapsee Pannu was well received. The film voiced in favor of women. Due to the low cost, the film managed to earn a small profit.
Number 7: Chhapak
Box Office Collection: Rs 34.13 Crore
Even before release, the film got into controversy due to Deepika Padukone and there was an appeal for boycott of the film. This had an impact on the collection of a good film. The truth of a woman’s victim of an acid attack was raised through the film. Meghna Gulzar’s great direction and Deepika Padukone’s brilliant performance made the film worth watching.
Number 6: Love Aaj Kal
Box Office Collection: Rs 37.74 Crore
Film director Imtiaz Ali was seen repeating himself. Reintroduced the old film. Young stars like Karthik Aryan and Sara Ali Khan also failed to give the film freshness.
Number 5: Malang
Box Office Collection: Rs 59.04 Crore
Fitted with stars like Anil Kapoor, Aditya Rai Kapoor, Disha Patani, the film did average business at the box office. It was seen extensively on the OTT platform.
Number 4: Good Mars, be more careful
Box Office Collection: Rs 62.50 Crore
A second part was created to capitalize on the success of Shubh Mangal Savdhan, which is based on the same sex-marriage theme. There is a lot of fun in the film, but the purpose with which this film was made has been buried somewhere. Because of this the film was average at the box office.
Number 3: Street Dancer 3D
Box Office Collection: Rs 75 Crore
Starring Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, the film was heavily funded, but director Remo D’Souza made the film bad. The film was limited to a collection of 75 crores.
Number 2: Rebel 3
Box Office Collection: Rs 97.32 Crore
Baaghi 3 starring Tiger Shroff took a bang at the box office. At the box office, the film was galloping and a lockdown took place. Due to this, the film was hit by the flop. If the lockdown did not happen, the film’s business would have been around 150 crores.
Number 1: Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior
Box Office Collection: Rs 279.50 crore
The most successful film of Ajay Devgan’s career. Did more business than expected. The audience loved Tanhaji’s story and the film business in Maharashtra was tremendous. In fact, it was the only film of 2020 which earned a lot of money.
