John Abraham became PETA India’s Person of the Year

Bollywood actor John Abraham was awarded Person of the Year of 2020 by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). In 2020, John urged e-retailer ‘Quikr’ to stop trading live animals. Over the years, he, along with PETA India, requested a ban on animal circuses, raising voices against the dancing monkeys of Mumbai, and an ad campaign urging everyone not to keep birds in cages.

Those receiving the honor include politician Shashi Tharoor, former Supreme Court judge KS Panikkar Radhakrishnan, cricketer Virat Kohli, and actresses Anushka Sharma, Sunny Leone, Sonam Kapoor, Kapil Sharma, Hema Malini, R Madhavan and Jacqueline Fernandez.

PETA Director of Celebrity and Public Relations, PETA India, Sachin Bangera said, “John Abraham has been raising voices for animals under PETA India since the beginning. If birds are suffering in cages, puppies are being brutally sold, or Animals are in danger anywhere in the world, so we are committed to protecting them. “
